Moreover, the material is notorious for causing tooth cracks and fractures over time, and many people aren’t comfortable with the mercury content.

What Are Dental Crowns?

Dental crowns or caps are tooth-shaped restorations that cover the entire visible surfaces of damaged teeth, restoring their strength and natural appearance. They offer an excellent solution for repairing teeth with extensive damage and not enough healthy tooth structure remaining to support large fillings.

Aside from restoring severely decayed or damaged teeth, dental crowns are used for many purposes. Dr. Behling may recommend a crown to protect a tooth after root canal therapy, repair a tooth worn due to nighttime grinding (bruxism), alleviate discomfort due to cracked tooth syndrome, and restore one or more missing teeth by supporting dental bridges or covering dental implants. Same-Day CEREC Crowns: Our same-day crowns utilize CAD/CAM technology to create virtual models of your teeth. Our onsite milling machine will carve out your restoration from a single ceramic block, all in one appointment!
All-Porcelain Crowns: All-porcelain dental crowns, sometimes referred to as all-ceramic crowns, provide an incredibly natural color and texture match to your natural teeth. These metal-free restorations are ideal for repairing teeth that are visible when you smile.
Zirconia Crowns: Zirconia crowns, made of zirconium oxide, are highly durable and practically indestructible. The translucent material is closely color and texture-matched to your natural teeth, delivering exceptional results.
E-Max Crowns: These highly aesthetic crowns are made of lithium disilicate ceramic, a material known for its durability and translucent properties. E-Max crowns provide a superior color and texture match to the surrounding teeth, with unmatched results.
